I could do without under-rehearsed ensembles that do a lot of jamming - and that's exactly what I'd expect from a few mentioned wishes.

If certain ensembles or musicians played only a few concerts with/under Zappa there might be substancial musical reasons for that. Yippie - a chance to check out and cherish weaknesses and flaws that made FZ abandon a musician or ensemble. Razz

Which is the most legendary event related to the Early Mothers ?
In my view the Garrick Theatre runs.
They went on for months and nearly nothing is leaking.

If you go to IINK:

You read:
Also filmed by Life magazine?
Jimmy Carl Black, interviewed by Phil McMullen, Ptolemaic Terrascope, Autumn 1992
One time we had three marines up on stage. This was at the height of the Vietnam war. There were these three marines who didn't want to go to Vietnam, so we invited 'em upon stage and Frank had them ripping the heads off baby dolls yelling 'kill, kill, kill'—Life magazine was there filming the whole thing, so needless to say they got out of the service.

I found the above quote in "Necessity Is...", Billy James' book, where additionally Don Preston says:

Unfortunately, I don't believe any of those Garrick shows were recorded - it was just before I started recording some of the shows on my little tape deck. Of course, Frank filmed a few shows. I'm sure they are probably in his vault.

Why not check ?

Here's a previous thread about the Garrick shows...

I see your point, but I would definitely not say the may 70 MOI Reunion band was under-rehearsed. And as long as jamming includes Ian Underwood sax solos and FZ guitar solos, I'll take it! FZ's tone and solos from that period are my favourite!
