What's the point of this sticky?

1. From time to time I'm asked for wallpapers based on a particular CD Cover.

2. To encourage people to create stuff to share with other Zappateers.

So what do you do with them?

First thing to do ... make a copy of these files and make your desktop wallpaper from those!

For those who don't know enough about Photoshop but want to create something, here's a set of simple instructions that will get you there if you follow them EXACTLY Very Happy

Desktop Wallpaper Templates

Open the '1920x1200.jpg', (hit alt+Backspace on a PC, opt+delete on a Mac) fill it with your artwork and save it with a new name.
Flatten the file. (Ctrl+E on a PC, Cmd+E on a Mac)
File>Save For Web to make a preview version - width 400 pixels, JPEG, Medium quality 30 is about right.
File>Save As ... or (Ctrl+Shift+S on a PC, Cmd+Shift+S on a Mac) choose JPEG from the pull down menu, and save with a quality of 12.

Open the '1600x1200.jpg' (hit alt+Backspace on a PC, opt+delete on a Mac)
Copy/Paste the flattened image from the 1920x1200.psd (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C change windows Ctrl+V on a PC, Cmd+A then Cmd+C change windows Cmd+V on a Mac)
Resize the image so it fills the height (Ctrl+T on a PC, Cmd+T on a Mac) then drag from any corner while holding down (alt+Shift on a PC, opt+Shift on a Mac).
File>Save or (Ctrl+S on a PC, Cmd+S on a Mac)
File>Save As ... or (Ctrl+Shift+S on a PC, Cmd+Shift+S on a Mac) choose JPEG from the pull down menu, and save with a quality of 12.

Open the '1024x768.jpg' (hit alt+Backspace on a PC, opt+delete on a Mac)
Paste the clipboard into '1024x768.jpg' (Ctrl+V on a PC, Cmd+V on a Mac)
Resize the image so it fills the height (Ctrl+T on a PC, Cmd+T on a Mac) then drag from any corner while holding down (alt+Shift on a PC, opt+Shift on a Mac).
File>Save or (Ctrl+S on a PC, Cmd+S on a Mac)
File>Save As ... or (Ctrl+Shift+S on a PC, Cmd+Shift+S on a Mac) choose JPEG from the pull down menu, and save with a quality of 12.

Close all three flattened file windows (Ctrl+W on a PC, Cmd+W on a Mac) > Don't Save.

Seeding The Wallpaper

Place the three JPEGs in a folder 'Desktop Wallpaper - (name the art) and add (your name)' just like the example I've given you.

Make a torrent of the folder, and post your preview file in the thread.

It doesn't matter what you make for yourself, but DO NOT use material in any of the work you seed!
