He has been in touch with people here about providing the sources he has that aren't on the tracker.

Yes there is stuff not on the tracker.
Not everything has been ripped yet.
I think it is important that we are able to keep all of these sources within Zappateers if at all possible.

I will start a new thread for people to register some commitment to contribute to a fund to buy this invaluable asset now.

Thanks for opening. Wouldn't it be better if it was sticky, though?

cheers

I figure that if enough folks post a little contribution over the next few days it will keep bubbling to the top of 'View posts since last visit'.
If not enough do, then we won't raise enough anyway.
It only needs to last five more days.

What is wrong with Jon?

That's something for Yojimbo (Jon) to share, if and when he want to.

around 500 for this collection seems very low - whats the problem ?
I can give but how ? (just one person can make a bid ?) Please give us again explaination how to give a contribution
Thanks

There is no problem, other than the collection is huge and there are probably not a lot of individuals in the world willing to take it on.
Yes, one of us will make the final bid, and everyone will need to give their contribution to that person, probably via the zappateers paypal account if we are successful.

No need to send anything now, we need to know we have enough to win the bid first.
So post on the commitment thread if you can help.
Thanks.

That's just the opening couple of bids. If things go well for Jon it'll sell for a lot more than that.

Still, we ought to be prepared with a fund that can compete because it would be a shame to see Jon's collection go elsewhere if we could have had it for a sum we could have afforded. There's a lot of us here - it wouldn't take much to get a decent amount together.

I was diagnosed with leukemia in the summer of 2014, and while the chemotherapy treatment has proven successful so far, I've been struggling with side effects from the following bone marrow transplantation for a year.

The reason I started the bidding at $500 is because that's as high as Ebay would let me without paying. I figure that as long as there are a couple of motivated buyers, I'll get as much as it's worth anyway.

Wouldn´t it be fair to collect the $$ right now and give ALL to Yojimbo, even the Zappateers bid won´t hit? I would not have any problem with that.
Jon, I wish you all the luck in the world to get well.
