I've copied this post across from the "FZ Shows 1973 12 09~10 The Roxy Hollywood CA 57.39 Aud (walk)" thread as it seems more appropriate for it to be here

Can we be certain now of what the date was of the first show?

Well maybe ..

After re reading the liner notes to RBP, towards the end of Ruth's liner notes she says " ... and everyone who was there across all the shows that weekend" ,well the 8th of December 1973 was a Saturday so I presume the 8th was the first night.

And also :-

"We're making a movie here tonight .....and Something Terrible Has Happened" is stated as being from "Night One, Show One at The Roxy 1973" on Roxy The Movie DVD inside cover.

"Night One, Show One" hinting that there might have been a second show that night

Nothing to do with memory loss he just didn't document the dates well. Its a good lesson for everyone. I like Excel and Outlook a lot.

Didn't Joe say once that "Dummy Up" was actually from a rehearsal or soundcheck? Maybe that took place on the 8th.

Maybe on the 8th they had a rehearsal filmed without audience that was recorded.

It doesnt say that was on the 8th...but according to Billboard dated on the 22nd mentioned that FZ filmed a rehearsal with audience:

It was in the Roxy & Elsewhere notes where FZ wrote that the shows were Dec. 10-12, before his serious memory problems seem to have started.

That comes off as overly harsh, not pbuzby-like at all! Why should FZ remember this shit at all? He's got a bunch of morons to handle that side of the biz free of charge.

How was that "harsh" at all?

I've known artists who are meticulous about that kind of stuff, and can recall (approximate) dates/locations off the top of their heads like a collector would. You would expect Frank to be that type of person, but he clearly was not. Though it's still a mystery why he would even bother/try, when it appears that he would just pull dates/locations out of his ass most of the time.

I dunno, it may be me, my faulty perception, but you come off as one harsh motherfucker, intolerant of anything outside your own personal orthodoxy. But I have learned from you so no big deal.

Most of the time brainpang is a passive aggressive with some charm, floating on his history as a New York Zappa fan around 1980 and a manic obsession with alternative music from the same period - but sometimes his real self shows through. The next step is that he will give up communicating with you, because you are hopeless.

Exactly, one soundcheck/invite-only type show on the 8th. Then two shows on each night after.

Thanks Joe.

So, that means 7 shows total then?!

I think 5. Rehearsal on the 8th, 2 shows on 9th and 2 shows on the 10th.

I think this is the right interpretation.

One and one is eleven, two and two is twenty two.
And if add one night for soundcheck/rehearsals, you have an amount of 122 Roxy shows. We want the complete box of them.
