Cool, nice to see Arthur Barrow running again this kind of project with the UNT students.

We're having an earlier version (from 2012) of this project on our tracker
named "Zappa Unlocked", featuring Arthur Barrow & Tommy Mars:

Audio version:
Zappa Unlocked: The Mars/Barrow Connection - 2012 04 16 Denton TX 80.00 SBD MC (robsam)

Video version:
Zappa Unlocked - The Mars-Barrow Connection - 2012 04 16 - Denton TX NTSC DVD (SIRMICK - robsam)

Wonderful! Smile

...I still can learn about stuff that I never discovered before - parts of "Thirteen" are from "Tink" - I knew that these pieces are related, but there is more that I don't recognize...listening through rehearsals from '79 and '80 help...but not with all of it that I hear in this performance. So - is there a fully composed "Thirteen" on which Arthur based this arrangement?

AND: Is there more content in the "Little House" piano than in the BWS original version? It seems that way to me...

Arthur's arrangement and the BFU's version of this piece is great. But having heard some of those rehearsals where Frank puts the eyebrows on the melodic lines and styles it AND plays guitar on top makes me realise what a difference FZ makes. He brings the MAGIC.... Crying or Very sad

It's great to see young people enjoying the shit out of Frank's music. The singers are delightful and I say job well done.

Agree that Little House and Thirteen were having me going wait a minute. Some new bits to my ears.

I think FZ was still "composing" it during the Feb 80 rehearsals. It does make me wonder if a more complete version would have been played live if Vinnie had played on the spring 80 tour.
