What's PP ?

Playground Psychotics ?

UM

Ah, yes. Let me inform you youngin' about the place formerly known on this forum as Playground Psychotics.

Essentially the "miscellaneous post whatever" forum, it eventually became doctorzap's political trolling ground and the floodgates of insanity opened upon the forum

I think we're better without it Smile

Except when more hardcore trolls than doctorzap start (ab)using the whole forum as if it were one big playground.

Update to R/P check-out.

Uncle meat is the same as the audience except the last 72 seconds. Montana on YCDTOSA IV has part of the solo from the audience. And yes, while we're at it. The first 1.37 of the vocals from the YCDTOSA IV are from the same Montana as seen on the youtube Video and also the out-chorus is from that version, before it switches back to the 1984 version.

cheers

Someone asked about the sound of I am the slime and Big swifty. Sound is IMHO exactly the same as on R/P.

I'm listening to RBP for about the 7th or 9th time or something since it came in the mail the other day. At any rate, I think that some of Cheepnis Percussion may in fact be some of the drum/percussion track on the R&E version of Cheepnis (it is the most heavily and audibly overdubbed track on R&E, after all). I haven't actually done an A/B comparison, but I suspect at least the "The monster which the peasants in this area..." section's percussion part may come from the percussion-only performance.

After RDNZL and before Montana FZ says here is a song we have never done before, Montana. That tells me that this audience recording is from the 9th (maybe 8th).

Slight correction, FZ only says they are going to try something they haven't tried before which is Tom Fowler playing the post-solo melody on bass. I guess this gives added significance to him playing it again during Dupree's.

You are correct, didn't listen too careful earlier. Strange that the liner notes say 9th and 10th December only. Would be interesting to know when the shows REALLY took place. BTW all the official music that we have now sums up to 3 hours and 10 minutes. If the whole video has 4 hours that would mean that only 50 minutes are missing.

P.S. Just checked Cheepnis. The percussion cheepnis is way faster than the R&E version.

Does that include all the parts we know are from the Elsewhere parts on R&E? Cheepnis seems to be 95% studio to me. Way too clean.

3 hours - 10 minutes - Is that The roxy parts from R&E, RBP and the YCDTOSA cuts? Am I missing anything? (Does it include the pieces of video already previewed?)

Hmm...

R&E - 60 minutes
RBP - 75 minutes
YCDTOSA - 25 minutes
zappa.com video - 30 minutes

Yes, that is 3 hours 10 minutes.

"Penguin In Bondage" has a different guitar solo from R&E (I think it is also different from the Un-Concert, but am not positive). "Village" sounds very different from R&E with Napoleon's original live vocal. "Echidna's" sounds similar to R&E (at least until the ending section which sounds heavily overdubbed on R&E) but FZ's guitar break in the middle is different. The drum breaks and trombone and keyboard solos in "Don't You Ever Wash" are also different.

This is great for me also, here is my review

http://rhoerer.wordpress.com/2014/03/21/roxy-by-proxy/

Which includes the pbuzby post quoted here, Thank you!

BTW, who's drumming on the single stereo channels?

It seems to me that Chester Thompson is on the left, also from a
video check, provided that the montana/dupree video tape has the
same mix.

Also, who are John and Nellie Wilson?
(FZ dedicates to them Vollage of the Sun)

Chester plays kit throughout Cheepnis - Percussion on the right channel. Ralph plays brushes (!) in left channel and then scoots over to Ruth's percussion area.
