But of course Miles doesn't consider that, and instead concludes that FZ had no sympathy for "working people."

Yes, completely, which says more about Miles than it'll ever say about FZ.

I think that's what i find a little distasteful about Miles' Bio... the fact that it's not balanced, there's just arsehole stories, with little context, and hardly any of the other side of FZ

I agree prost

I still recommend people read books like this though, or indeed any FZ book...if only to make one think more deeply about one's convictions Very Happy

You know, it also makes me think about Beefheart and what an asshole he could be, and yet that doesn't stop me from collecting his work...

Well, we can all be arseholes...and it's all relative isn't it? It's easy to call someone an arsehole when it's directed at you personally, and they're saying stuff you maybe don't want to hear, y'know?
It's a good thing that it doesn't stop you though...collecting someone's work because they're a nice guy/gal/group is just symptomatic of what's wrong with popular music, and again was something FZ railed against.

is Barry Miles the guy who ran the International Times, famous for having the "FZ on a toilet" photos taken?

The photographer was David Robertson: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4OSApREbPM

This man is not David Robertson. He is the photographer Bobby Davidson. I met him in 2006 at the Mighty Baby concert at the Borderline. He knew the band when they were the earlier 'The Action'. He lost out as he claimed to me that Zappas bodyguard took the rolls of film. He might be referring to Herb Cohen.

Right, he is Robert Davidson. He was about 10 minutes explaining his case at Zappanale 21 & how he was forced to provide his negatives if he wanted to keep his arm undamaged. disbelief

I donīt have it complete but the above and this shorter excerpt: It looks like gsus667 could have it.

Probably http://www.rockradio.de/ has it in its archives because they broadcast the whole festival.

And why not, the first option, ask to the author.
